A keypad from a BFT Deimos BT gate operator will not talk to a BFT Rigel 5 control board without the correct decoder module, and the wiring harness for a BFT ICARO intercom panel uses a different pinout than the BFT MITTO series keypad. The model label is usually on the backplate or inside the housing. Look for a silver sticker with a part number starting in “D” (keypads) or “P” (control accessories). Take a photo of it. It saves a return trip.

For BFT specifically, we recommend OEM parts over generic aftermarket replacement when the keypad or intercom ties into a BFT control board. BFT boards read a proprietary data pulse from their own peripherals. A knockoff keypad will sometimes work for a few weeks, then start dropping digits or triggering the board’s fault relay because the signal voltage is slightly out of spec.
